Form 1099-R
What is it?
Form 1099-R, Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, etc., reports distributions (and certain deemed distributions) from annuities, IRAs or other tax-advantaged retirement plans.
Will I be receiving one?
If there was a distribution from your annuity or other tax-advantaged retirement plan, you will be receiving a 1099-R. The Hartford will mail the form to you in mid-January. The form indicates:

Gross distribution paid during the given tax year

Taxable amount of the distribution

Federal income tax that was withheld

Any contributions that were made to the investment or premiums paid

Code representing the type of distribution that was made during the year
